Aluminium collapsible tubes should be dipped in a mixture of Isopropyl Alcohol 70% containing 0.002% of Benzylkonium Chloride for 10 to 15 minutes for sterilization. Keep these tubes in previously sterilized trays. Expose the washed & treated tubes to fumes of Formalin. Fumigation can be done with Potassium Permanganate & Formalin in a chamber for 24 hours. Filling of tubes is to be done aseptically.

Manufacturing & Filling of Tubes
Melt Cetostearyl Alcohol, Hard Paraffin & White Soft Paraffin alongwith Liquid Paraffin. Heat at 150º centigrade for atleast 1 hour for effective sterilization of ointment base. Allow the mass to cool to a semi solid state under aseptic conditions. Mixed base should be filtered before cooling. Dissolve the medicament in 200ml. of sterilized water for injection and add to the semi solid sterilized base under continuous mixing and aseptic conditions. Fill in sterile tubes.
