Tablets are either plain, sugar coated, film coated or enteric coated. Sustained release or retard, sublingual, effervescent, chewable, dispersable tablets too are manufactured.
Granulating & Drying
Dry Granulation: All ingredients are mixed in a mass mixture and passed through roll compactor to get best result of uni-forminity of active medicament and granulated in a multi mill.
Wet Granulation: All ingredients are mixed in a mass mixture with binding paste of starch, gelatin, MCCP. The mass is dried up with fluid bed drier.
All granules are lubricated with Magnesium and Talc before compression.
Tablet Compression :
Tablets are compressed in the rotary tablet compression machine as shown in the picture with a pressure ranging from 4Kg. to 8Kg. keeping in mind the friability, hardness, and dispersibility of tablets. The weight of the tablet is also adjusted in this machine.
Tablet Sugar Coating :
Sugar coating is done in different colors on the tablet with the use of coating pan as shown in the picture, to improve the look of the tablet or to mask the bitterness of the tablet.
Tablet Film Coating or Enteric Coating :
Film coating is done in different colors and covers the spotting of granules to give better look to the compressed tablet.
Enteric coating is done in different colors only in tablets which are to be released in intestine instead of stomach. The dissolution time of enteric coated tablets is always high.
